Proper nutrition is of huge importance to athletes who want to maximize their performance. Knowing what to eat, when to eat, and how much can make the difference between productive training, and wasted time. Athletes have several special concerns when it comes to nutrition like; what to eat for pre-game meals, eating to enhance recovery between training sessions, eating to gain lean weight, and eating to lose weight, to name a few. Intense training that is not backed up with proper nutrition can actually cause a decrease in performance, instead of gains. Make sure you are getting the most out of your training by following a sports performance nutrition plan designed just for you!

Our 3 session Sports Nutrition package contains the following:

INITIAL CONSULTATION 30 min.
Some athletes may be interested in gaining muscle or losing body fat, while others may want to maintain their current weight but wish to improve their athletic performance by using a personalized nutritional program. The initial consultation serves as a time to meet with the athlete and determine their nutritional and athletic goals. The athlete’s parents may sit in on this session if they wish. During this session we will:
• Conduct body composition testing (to include height, weight, Body Mass Index, and percent body fat by skin-fold measurement).
• Determine appropriate goals for health and performance.
• Determine current eating habits.
• Determine physical activity level.
• Explain the use of food logs (to be returned within 7 days).
• Discuss nutritional guidelines for pre-game meals, and post workout meals (receive take home information sheets).
• Discuss healthy eating habits (receive take home information sheets).
• Discuss the role of physical activity/training in achieving goals.

PROGRAM SET-UP 30 – 60 min.
Athletes should return their completed food logs within 7 days of the initial consultation, at this time we will schedule the Program Set-Up session for 2-5 days later. This session is largely to set the athlete up on their specific diet plan, and set nutritional goals. The athlete’s parents need to be present for this session (if under 16). During this session we will:
• Go over detailed daily diet (to include calorie, carbohydrate, protein, and fat consumption goals)
• Compare ideal diet with current diet.
• Go over sample ideal day.
• Discuss sport specific diet concerns.
• Discuss nutritional supplements.
• Discuss red light, yellow light, and green light foods.
• Recommend physical activity/training program to support goals.

PROGRAM FOLLOW-UP 30 – 60 min.
The program follow-up will be scheduled for 4-6 weeks later at the time of the Program Set-Up. More follow up sessions may be scheduled if desired. The athlete’s parents may sit in on this session if they wish. During this session we will:
• Recheck body composition.
• Determine whether goals are being met.
• Make any necessary changes to program.
• Answer any questions the athlete or parent may have.
• Make recommendations or changes to physical activity/training program.
